New regulations from the Patriot Act require that all mortgage brokers abide since lenders are likely to require copies of certain documents to verify the identity of the borrower prior to opening a new mortgage loan, these include:
What does this mean for you? When you apply for a mortgage loan, we will ask for your:
* Name
* Address
* Date of Birth
* Identification Number: for a U.S. person, a taxpayer identification number; or for a non-U.S. person, either a taxpayer identification number, passport number and country of issuance, alien identification card number, or number and country of issuance of any other government-issued document evidencing nationality or residence and bearing a photograph or similar safeguard and any other information that will allow us protect your identity. At closing, our agents may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
